NVQ Level 5 Occupational Health And Safety
The NVQ level 5 occupational health and safety courses are offered for those who are engaged with the responsibilities of maintaining the health and safety function in any organization or those professionals who are practicing the job in the area of general health and safety in any particular business oriented or socially conscious organization. The completion of these courses will let the candidates will be able to apply for the membership in the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). These courses are provided by both institutions OCR and City and Guilds. The prices charged by OCR is only £1595 excluding VAT on the other hand the City and Guilds charges only £1750 excluding VAT. There are ten compulsory units set as mandatory such as promotion of a positive health and safety culture, development and implementation of the health and safety policies of the organization, developing and implementing effective communication system for health and safety information, development and maintenance of individual and organizational competence in health and safety matters etc. In these NVQ level 5 occupational health and safety courses identification, assessment and controlling of health and safety risk, influencing and keeping pace with improvements in health and safety practice, development and implementation of proactive and reactive monitoring system, emergency response systems and procedures, and review systems are also covered.
On an average these NVQ level 5 occupational health and safety courses take 9 to 12 months to be completed. The duration can be extended up to 24 months. The completion of these courses largely depends on the contribution of the candidate’s time. The more time they will spend the quicker these courses will be completed. The course needs maximum 482 hours of study and preparation for any kind of candidate to complete it. There are no requirements mentioned by the institutions provide such NVQ courses. But most of the institutions advise the candidates to be holding prior courses in health and safety for the ease of learning the factors of level 5. There is another recommendation provided for the candidates to do that is the candidates should join an organization for the post that suits their course. As these courses are practical experience based so an employment in such organization will stimulate the study procedure of the candidates highly. The assessment procedures in these NVQ level occupational health and safety courses will be carried out at the place of work by the assessors.
